This was my first ever 3D print that I did for my high school technology class. The mission was to create a simple print that required no supports.
Concept & Inspiration
I got the idea of a printable assembled monkey where the pieces would be printed flat and then it can be assembled with ease. This idea came from seeing some of my brother's toy figures that followed similar concepts and his Lego toys of assembly idea.
Design & Printing
I designed the model in Blender. The challenge was to ensure all parts could be printed flat on the build plate to avoid the need for support structures, while still fitting together snugly after printing.
The final result is a fun, assemble-able figure that demonstrates the capabilities of 3D printing for creating interlocking parts.
